
Governed by a Board of five Dominican Sisters for 68 years, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy's Board of Directors expanded in March 1999 to include lay individuals in addition to the Sisters. Today's Board is comprised of five Dominican Sisters and 10 lay individuals, all dedicated members of the Flintridge Community. The Board oversees all areas of the school, from finances and development to academics and extracurricular programs, offering advice, support and guidance. As the governing body, the Board is responsible for monitoring progress on long-term goals and the Strategic Plan − Strengthening the Tradition − to assure that FSHA is best able to maintain its mission.

Mr. Angelica, father of a recent graduate now studying at Princeton University, has been a member of the Board since 2001. He serves on the Finance and the Personnel and Benefits Committees. He is the President of Linear Industries and is an active member of his community. Mr. Angelica is President of the Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation and volunteers for the Crescenta-Canada YMCA, the St. Bede School and Parish Finance Committee and La Canada Irrigation District.
Sister Carolyn has been a Board Member since 1999 and, as president, chairs the Financial Aid Committee and sits on the Finance, Development and Education Committees. She is the Director of Schools for the Dominican Sisters of Mission San José and volunteers her time in several places in her community. She is a Board Member for Moreau Catholic High School, Queen of the Holy Rosary College, Immaculate Conception Academy, St. Catherine Military School as well as the Dominican Sisters Vision of Hope Foundation.
Appointed Principal of FSHA, Sister Celeste has been serving on the Board of Directors since August 2002. She is the Chairman of the Education Committee and the aunt of two Flintridge alumnae. She also serves on the Board of Directors for St. Catherine Military School in Anaheim, California.
Father of two alumnae, Mr. Cummings has been a Board member since 2001 and is a member of the Financial Aid Committee. He is an attorney at Sullivan, Workman & Dee and is Chairman of the Board for San Gabriel Mission Elementary School. Mr. Cummings was the former President of the Right to Life League of Southern California.
Dr. Davitt is the Superintendent/President of Glendale Community College and has served on the Flintridge Board since 2001. He is the Chairman of the Personnel and Benefits Committee. Incredibly active in his community, Dr. Davitt serves on the Board of Regents for Holy Family High School, the Board of Directors for the Glendale Chamber of Commerce, the Executive Committee of Character and Ethics for School Board of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and, finally, the Board of Trustees for Crestview Preparatory. Dr. Davitt's two daughters graduated from Flintridge in the 1970s.
Charles and his wife Kathryn are long-time residents of the Pasadena/La Canada area where they have been active community volunteers, most notably in the Pasadena Chapter of the Los Angeles Philharmonic support group that sponsors the annual Showcase House of Design. Their daughter Holly graduated from FSHA in 2004, and is now attending the University of the Pacific. Charles is a property developer and manager in the Los Angeles area. He accepted a position on the Board of Directors in September 2004, and will be serving on the Finance Committee of the Board. Mr. Hofgaarden has served for several years as a member of the Development Committee.
An alumna herself and mother of a recent graduate, Mrs. Longo has been a Board Member since 2001. She serves as the Chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee. Mrs. Longo is Senior Vice President of CB Richard Ellis, Inc., and serves on the Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation Board as well as the Finance Committee for the St. Bede School and Parish.
A graduate of FSHA and Gonzaga University, Christy serves on the Finance Committee of the Board. She has returned in recent years from England where she was involved in setting up a home mortgage system for Countrywide. Her interest in cooking has most recently led her into culinary school.
Mrs. Nemer has been a Board Member since 2001 and serves as the Chair for the Development Committee. She is the Senior Vice President of Communications for KCET-TV and the mother of an alumna. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Glendale Youth Orchestra, the Ballet of the Foothills and the Alex Film Society.
Sister Johnellen is Director of Schools for the Dominican Sisters of Mission San José. She oversees the operations of the four sponsored Dominican schools in both northern and southern California.
