The Student Activities Center

Completed and dedicated in the summer of 1998, the Student Activities Center is the first new building on campus in nearly five decades. As the first phase of FSHA’s Master Plan for Campus Expansion and Improvement, the new building provided the campus with a dedicated athletic facility as well as three new, state-of-the-art science classrooms.

The new athletic facilities include a gymnasium, a fitness studio, an aerobics studio, locker rooms, a sports medicine and training room and equipment storage.

A dual-purpose soccer and softball field is located adjacent to the Center.

The state-of-the-art science wing, including bioligy, chemistry and physics classroom/laboratories as well as a computer research lab, is located on the second level above the Mothers' Guild Foyer.

The building site for the Student Activities Center provided a space for the Byrnes Amphitheater. The new space, named for an alumna from the class of 1935, has provided a new location for student gatherings and annual events.
