1. What is it like to attend an all-girls school?

The all-girls campus at FSHA allows for more opportunities — academic, leadership and athletic — for each student. FSHA students express themselves freely and thrive in the school's unique nurturing environment. Young men are included in the campus environment: they participate in school plays, cheer on sports teams and sometimes visit friends after school.

The best way to see what an all-girls school is like, however, is to visit the FSHA campus. Click on Visiting FSHA for more details.

2. How many Advanced Placement courses does FSHA offer?

FSHA currently offers 13 Advanced Placement courses in nearly every discipline. Click on Academics for more information.

3. What does FSHA look for in an applicant?

FSHA is looking for quality students who demonstrate the capability to handle a rigorous academic program and extracurricular activities and who seek a spiritual educational experience.

4. What entrance exams are required for admission for day and resident students?

See How to Apply for more information or contact the Admissions Office.

5. How should an applicant prepare for her interview?

FSHA wants to get to know the real you. Be yourself and you'll be fine.

6. What is the 2007-08 tuition?

Additional fees may include: uniforms, books, ELL classes, extracurricular activities, etc. As in all private schools, tuition increases can be anticipated annually.

7. How do families apply for scholarship and financial aid?

Please refer to the Financial Aid and Scholarship Application Procedures for a full description of the application process.  Please note that the first deadline is December 8, 2007 for Merit Scholarship applicants and January 14 for Financial Aid applicants.

8. Where are FSHA's international resident students from?

FSHA currently has students from eight foreign countries: Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, PR China, Nigeria, Taiwan, Macau, Thailand and Guatemala.

9. What do FSHA resident students do on the weekends?

Weekend life in the resident hall is full of activity for the students. FSHA is close to Pasadena, which offers some of the best retail stores, restaurants and movie theatres as well as museums and cultural landmarks available. Students also visit the many amusement parks close to FSHA, such as Universal Studios, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm and Magic Mountain. The new metro system provides easier access to downtown Los Angeles so the students can visit its concert halls, museums and restaurants.

Additionally, Resident Supervisors plan special monthly activities for the resident students. These activities usually allow the resident students to visit new parts of California, including the Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort, several of Southern California's finest beaches, the desert city of Palm Springs with its extensive outlet shops, Disneyland and many other exciting locations.

10. What is an I-20 and does FSHA issue them for international students?

An I-20 is the prerequisite to an F-1 Student Visa required by the United States Government for an international student to study in the United States. FSHA is INS/SEVIS certified to issue I-20's. FSHA issues I-20's to accepted students only after they have sent their contract and deposit to FSHA. With the I-20, the international student then makes an appointment with the United States Consulate General in their home country to apply for the F-1 Student Visa. The F-1 Student Visa is the only visa accepted by FSHA.

11. Can students transfer into the day program from the resident program, or vice versa?

FSHA's day and resident programs are designed to have students stay within one or the other program for their entire time at FSHA. This format is beneficial for the school, the students and the parents because the resident program is a true educational living experience.

12. Do FSHA students wear uniforms?

FSHA students wear a uniform everyday. This uniform code offers many different options:
