FSHA has a small, but devoted, group of alumnae and past parents who have named Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy as a beneficiary in their wills or other estate planning vehicles. This group is called The Legacy Society and is recognized for their love of the school and the Sisters, and for their understanding of the value that a gift, in this form, can bring to the school.
Gifts made in a will may be for specific sums or for a specific percentage of an estate. Your estate will receive a charitable deduction for the value of the property passing to FSHA.
Gifts to the school as either unitrusts or annuity trusts bring immediate tax benefits along with a steady income stream.
Real estate may be given to the school and yet use of the property retained for life. The donor receives immediate tax deduction and estate tax savings.
Assets may be given to the school for a number of years and then returned to you or a family member. The school gains support for current needs by using the interest from these sums, and the donor receives some tax advantages.
If you do not have professional guidance and are interested in pursuing some options of planned giving, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy can recommend the services of an attorney who is an expert in this field and who can help you and your advisors arrange the type of gift which best suits your own desire and circumstances.
