 | Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy is committed to providing high-tech educational technology resources and instruction to all students. The use of technology is integrated into all departments, and computers are located throughout the entire campus. All classrooms have Internet and network connectivity, as well as large-screen projection systems. Most classrooms are equipped with Smart Boards or Star Boards. Microsoft Office is provided on all workstations, and students are encouraged to use a variety of web-based resources to enhance learning. FSHA Library and Technology Center The Library and Technology Center is at the center of campus. Thirty laptop computers and five desktop computers are available for student use before, during and after school. The space functions as a library, research center, classroom and lab. Teachers book time in the center to use the computers as a lab to enhance instruction. Classes are brought in to the center for instruction on computer ethics, research technology skills, information literacy and use of educational technology. The Library and Technology Center is one of several wi-fi hotspots on campus, and students may bring their own laptops or connect using those provided by the center. Three high-capacity printers and a photocopy machine are freely available for student use. The library invests in online subscription databases to facilitate research, and all students are encouraged to apply for public library cards to increase their access to online resources. Headphones and digital microphones are available to classes as well as to individual students for viewing or creating multimedia projects. Computer Lab The computer lab is also located in the main high school building. Thirty new desktop computers service our Graphic Design, Journalism, Yearbook and AP Art History classes. The lab is equipped with Adobe Creative Suite, a high-capacity printer, a scanner, and a digital projection system. Department Resources Computer technology is used throughout the curriculum. The science department offers a small lab for students to work, as well as 18 mobile laptop computers. Digital probes, sensors and microscopes are available to enhance lab instruction. A student response system is shared between science classes. A mobile Macintosh lab is dedicated to the math department. Students use online resources to complete coursework. The English department has two dedicated mobile laptop labs with high-capacity printers. Most classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards. The Arts Macintosh laptops are available to students in visual art and video production classrooms. Art classes utilize digital cameras and Adobe Creative Suite, and video-production students use professional video equipment and Final Cut Pro to create their work. Students in theatre classes receive instruction on lighting and audio technology, giving them important post-graduate skills. FSHA Online Community All students, parents and alumnae have access to our FSHA Online Community. It is the central communication system for the school. By logging into the community, students and parents have access to daily and long-term assignment information, grades, report cards, transcripts and course information. Current information regarding school announcements, events, sports and news for students and parents is updated daily. Student teams, groups and clubs use the community to share information. Alumnae have access to fellow graduates' class notes, upcoming reunion information and fun ways to get involved in the online world of FSHA.
