In 1931, Flintridge opened its doors as an all-girl boarding school. Flintridge remained this way through most of the next decade; in the late 1940s, FSHA began to accept day students as well. The tradition of the Boarding Department is upheld to the day, with up to sixty students a year taking advantage of the program, which contibutes to the unique character of the school by uniting cultures and providing a truly global learning environment.
The Boarding Program offers a safe, structured, nurturing and caring home life for U.S. and International boarding students. Contained within a college preparatory academic environment, the program places a high priority on academics. The Boarding Staff supervises the daily life and activities of the students, ensuring that school hours, meal times, study hours and curfews are followed. Resident students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities, such as sports teams and productions, and have an active role in school leadership through the Boarding Student Council. Friendships established through the Boarding Program last throughout a student's lifetime. |
