The FSHA Athletic Program believes that the opportunity for participation in a variety of student selected athletic activities is a vital part of the educational experience. Such participation is a privilege that carries with it responsibilities to the school, to the team, to the student body, to the community and to the students themselves. Participating in the Athletic Program not only helps FSHA students develop valuable learning and leadership skills but also is a lot of fun!
FSHA athletes compete in CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) as members of the Mission League. The school sponsors over 20 Varsity and Junior Varsity teams in basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball and water polo. An equestrian team competes throughout the year in the Interscholastic Equestrian League. Teams consistently reach League and State finals and have achieved numerous championships over the years.
Athletes train in state-of-the-art facilities. FSHA is home to a 26,000 square-foot Student Activities Center (SAC) which was completed in 1998. In addition to a gymnasium and multi-purpose athletic field, the SAC includes a sizeable aerobics room and a weight room complete with weight machines, free weights and cardiovascular exercise equipment such as treadmills, stationary bikes and step machines. Additionally, a training room with massage tables and whirlpools is available for student use.
Regardless of participation in a competitive team sport, all FSHA students are able to use the SAC in physical education classes or after school programs.
Parent support is critical to the Athletic Department. The Booster Club is composed of parents and friends of FSHA who work with the Athletic Director to raise funds, partly through selling FSHA merchandise, for athletic needs.
