  • Bridge Scholarship

    The Bridge Scholarship is a unique and selective program awarded to two to three incoming students each year. This scholarship covers up to 90% of tuition and fees annually and is designed to fund the gap between the cost of tuition and demonstrated financial need. Bridge Scholarships support low-income families with tuition assistance, as well as waivers for uniforms, books and activity fees. This award is renewable for subsequent years. To be considered, families must complete the financial aid application process. Assessment for this scholarship takes place during financial aid review.
  • Veritas Scholarship

    All incoming applicants are automatically considered based on sterling teacher/principal recommendations; demonstrated outstanding achievement in academics; co-curricular activities; and service to school and community. The Veritas Scholarship is awarded competitively regardless of a family’s financial need and is renewable for subsequent years. Individual scholarships of up to $10,000 have been awarded in past years. To be considered, applicants must have an application for admission completed and submitted by December 1, 2022.
  • Alumnae Scholarship

    Incoming students who are the children or grandchildren of a Flintridge Sacred Heart alumna are eligible to receive an Alumnae Scholarship. The Alumnae Scholarship is awarded regardless of a family’s financial need and is renewable for subsequent years. Individual scholarships of up to $1,000 have been awarded in past years.
  • Financial Aid

    Flintridge Sacred Heart has a growing financial aid program designed to support a strong, diverse student body that values both socioeconomic and cultural diversity. For the 2022-23 academic year, one-third of Flintridge Sacred Heart's student body received need-based financial aid totaling $1.7 million. One-third of Flintridge Sacred Heart's student body received need-based financial aid.

    Applying for financial assistance has no bearing on an applicant’s candidacy for admission. Decisions regarding financial aid are made after admission is determined. Families receiving aid can expect to continue receiving similar aid grants throughout their enrollment at Flintridge Sacred Heart unless financial circumstances improve.
    Financial Aid for Boarding Students
    Flintridge Sacred Heart offers financial aid to applicants whereby all sources of employment income can be verified by a United States tax return. Financial aid is not offered for room & board fees.

    The deadline to apply for financial aid is Monday, January 23, 2023. 
  • Payment Plans

    Flintridge Sacred Heart provides three payment options:
    One Payment
    Full year's tuition due by June 1
    Two Payments
    Due June 1 (60%) and December 1 (40%)*
    Ten Payments
    Starting June 1 (day students only)*

    *Requires participation in Tuition Refund Plan
  • Student Loans

    Some financial institutions offer loans to finance a secondary education. Repayment of these loans typically takes place over 2-15 years. Interest rates are typically better than a personal loan from a local bank and depend on factors such as credit score, loan term and loan amount. For more information, sample institutions are listed below. NOTE: Flintridge Sacred Heart does not recommend or endorse these vendors.

Financial Aid Instructions & Checklist

The information requested is essential to the Financial Aid Committee review process. The committee feels a strong responsibility to make fair and logical decisions. Your responsibility, if you wish to receive financial assistance, is to provide them with the information to make those decisions. To ensure your file receives full consideration, please complete each step below by January 23, 2023. Unfortunately, incomplete applications cannot be considered. Applications will be available beginning November 1, 2022. There is a $40 nonrefundable application fee per household.

  • Step 2: Complete FACTS Application

    Complete the online FACTS application at
    Applications will be available beginning November 1, 2022. There is a $40 nonrefundable application fee.
  • Step 3: Obtain Tax Information

    Obtain the following tax information:

    a) 2021 filed tax return copies — form 1040, 1040A or 1040-EZ.
    b) Other supporting tax schedule copies as listed on FACTS application (e.g., Schedules C and E).
    c) 2021 W-2 Wage and Tax Statement copies for both the applicant and co-applicant.  
    d) Recent pay stubs for the applicant and co-applicant for all sources of household income.  

    IMPORTANT NOTE FOR APPLICANTS WITH SCHEDULE C (Self Employment) INCOME: If your 2021 tax return or anticipated 2022 tax return includes over $50,000 of gross self-employment income (Schedule C), a 2022 tax return may be required.

    Don’t Forget Your K-1s, 1120s and 1065s. If you have an ownership interest in a partnership, LLC or S corporation, you must submit your K-1 for each entity. Where applicable, you must also submit Form 1120S (four pages) and Form 1065 (five pages). Your file will not be complete until these forms are received.
  • Step 4: Upload Tax Information to FACTS

    Upload ALL required tax information to FACTS.

    Information may be uploaded piecemeal (e.g., 2021 tax return uploaded earlier than 2022 W2). As soon as required tax information is uploaded, FACTS will begin their verification process.  Sooner is better as they experience processing backlogs in January and February.  FACTS help is available at 866-315-9262.

  • Step 5: Upload All Required Supplemental Documents

    Complete and upload the Letter to the Financial Aid Committee, as well as your Household Information Form and Housing Documentation.  Each item has a designated area in the Supplemental Documents section of your FACTS application.

    TIP: Use the Letter to the Financial Aid Committee wisely. The Welcome Letter & Application Instructions lists eight examples of the type of items to include in this letter. If any of these are applicable to you, use this letter to explain it. This is what we are looking for in this letter.
  • Step 6: Complete IRS Form 4506

    Complete the IRS Form 4506 (request for copy of tax return)

    Be sure to sign it. No fee is required.

    File a complete application. All of the above items are due by January 23, 2023 to complete your file. Incomplete files are usually due to missing tax information as listed on the online FACTS application. When you login to FACTS, missing documentation is listed on the first landing page. Keep checking until your file is complete!

  • Will my application for financial assistance affect my child’s chances for admission?

    No. Admissions decisions are made without regard to a family’s financial circumstances. Financial aid requests are reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee only after the admissions decisions have been made.
  • Will I qualify for financial aid?

    It is very difficult to offer general guidelines by which you can determine your own eligibility. For example, although family income level is an important consideration, many other factors enter into the decision-making process, including number of children, number of children attending schools for which tuition is paid, other family dependents, assets, liabilities and unusual expenses. The letter to the financial aid committee explaining your financial need plays an integral part in assessing your financial need beyond information provided in your application. The average annual total family income for students receiving aid in 2022-23 was approximately $150,000.
  • What is the average award and how many students receive aid?

    Approximately one-third of Flintridge Sacred Heart's student body receives need-based financial aid. Financial aid awards for the 2022-23 school year averaged $14,000 and ranged from $4,000 to $26,000. All families pay some tuition as the maximum grant is 90% of tuition.
  • What if I am separated or divorced?

    Parents who are divorced, separated or never married must submit a complete financial aid application. All living parents are expected to contribute to their daughter’s education and complete all paperwork for financial aid. The Financial Aid Committee does not feel bound by the assertion that one parent disclaims responsibility for educational expenses. If two parents are not included in the application, this must be explained in the letter to the Financial Aid Committee.
  • What if I am a stay-at-home parent?

    If a family has children over the age of six, it is expected that both parents will be gainfully employed. If a parent chooses not to work, an annual amount will be added to the income calculations for evaluation unless the employment status is reasonably explained in the letter to the Financial Aid Committee.
  • What happens if I cannot meet the financial aid deadlines (e.g., tax-return extensions)?

    There’s no question that you are at a disadvantage if your file is not complete within the required time frame. We do understand, however, that there are factors that are sometimes beyond the family’s control. In such cases, please contact the Director of Financial Aid. Families submitting late applications are placed on the financial aid wait list. Upon completion, if funds are available, we are happy to make grants that take into account your calculated need and our remaining funds.
  • Do I need to reapply for financial aid each year?

    Each year, families must reapply for aid for the following year. Unless your situation has changed greatly, your financial aid grant will remain relatively the same each year.
  • How are financial aid decisions made? Is the process confidential?

    Flintridge Sacred Heart retains the services of FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment (FACTS), an organization that helps independent schools across the country determine a family’s financial need. In reviewing each application for aid, the Financial Aid Committee considers both the FACTS information and all other additional details the family is asked to provide.

    The Financial Aid Committee members generally include: the President, Director of Financial Aid and Director of Advancement. The committee maintains strict confidentiality over the financial aid files. Teachers and/or students are not informed of financial aid decisions.
  • Are there scholarship programs that are not based on financial need?

    Yes. Veritas Scholarships are academic and achievement awards available to 9th-grade students regardless of their financial need. These scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen who demonstrate outstanding and consistent accomplishments in the areas of academics, co-curricular activities, service to their school, parish or community, along with outstanding academic references. Recipients are awarded scholarships of up to $10,000 per school year which are renewable based on the student’s continued satisfactory grades, effort and conduct. To be considered, applicants must submit a completed application by December 1, 2022.

  • What if I don’t qualify for financial aid or a scholarship?

    Flintridge Sacred Heart’s 10-month payment plan may be of assistance. Also, please review our website for information on student loans and contact information for vendors offering this product.
