Our distance learning program delivers the full value of a Flintridge Sacred Heart education.

About our approach

On Tuesday, March 17, Flintridge Sacred Heart implemented its continuity of learning plan, which enables students to maintain their normal class schedule remotely. Learn how a Flintridge Sacred Heart education continues within our robust distance learning experience keeps students engaged with their academic growth, their peers, their school community, and Flintridge Sacred Heart's mission and vision.

"We have been impressed with how Flintridge Sacred Heart has handled our circumstances since January 2020. No other institution we are associated with has handled it with such organization, discipline, thoughtfulness and grace as Flintridge Sacred Heart."
Thanks to the expertise of our faculty and staff, as well as staying up to date with the latest technology, all student services, including access to the school counselor, nurse and advisors will be available remotely during this time. Flintridge Sacred Heart is committed to the continuity of learning for our students and above all, to the health and well-being of students, faculty, staff and families.

List of 6 frequently asked questions.

  • Technology in the Classroom

With a 1:1 laptop program, each student has a MacBook Air, allowing them to stay connected in their classes. We are using G Suite (Google) for distance learning. Classes meet remotely using Google Hangouts Meet.
  • Tech Support

The Help Desk helpdesk@fsha.org will be available to offer support by email or phone Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5:00pm on school days. We will do our best to respond to any emails sent after hours in a timely manner. We recommend you first send an email communication because your message will go to our entire support team. You may also call us at 626-685-8545 to speak with a Help Desk technician.
  • Advising and Family Meetings

Communications will be through “Zoom,” a HIPAA compliant and secure meeting platform to ensure confidentiality around the content of those meetings. Advisors will be contacting families directly with scheduling details. Individual advising and college counseling meetings with students will still be available. Students and parents are encouraged to email their advisors with questions and/or requests for virtual meeting times. Students who may need mental health support should reach out to Mrs. Juliana Gallant, the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services.
  • Medical Information/Nurse Kathy

While students will not be on campus to see Nurse Kathy in person, she is available for phone and zoom consultations daily from 8 am - 3 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Daily Schedule

Based on student and faculty feedback regarding screen time, we moved to 60 minute blocks with an 8:30 start, a continuation of the 15 minute passing periods, and a 1/2 hour lunch block on four-block days.

    Block 1 8:30 - 9:30
    Block 2 9:45 - 10:45
    Block 3 11:00 - 12:00
    Lunch 12:00 - 12:30 (DEFG days only)
    Block 4 12:30 - 1:30 (DEFG days only)
  • Residential Life

We understand this is a particularly difficult time for our boarding students who are far away from their families. Through this adaptation of the Continuity of Learning/Distance Learning Plan, the Boarding Hall plans to stay open and resident students are welcome to stay in the halls on-campus. If they would like to be off-campus with their parent or local guardian that is also an option.
Your response to this crisis has been simply outstanding. The phrase that I keep hearing from my mouth and other parents, is our girls have "not missed a beat!" Thank you - thank you for your preparedness, your call to action, for putting our girls first.

Keeping Our Community Connected

As the coronavirus continues to spread and impact our community, there are people, organizations, and businesses in great need of support. At the heart of our Dominican teaching is a strong tradition of service to the community. In this uncertain time, we are committed to living out this mission. With this in mind, we created the Heart to Heart program.
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy is an all girls' Catholic, Dominican, independent, college-preparatory day and boarding high school in the hills of La Cañada Flintridge. Overlooking Pasadena, FSHA educates girls from Los Angeles, Southern California and around the world for a life of faith, integrity and truth.
