Our New President

Marlena Conroy Joins Flintridge Sacred Heart

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy proudly introduces Marlena Conroy as our incoming president, poised to succeed Sister Carolyn McCormack, O.P., effective July 1, 2024.

Marlena Conroy is a dedicated educational leader with extensive career experience; she has worked in the roles of teacher, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction. Most recently she served as Assistant Principal at Our Lady of Peace Academy (an all-girl Catholic high school) and as Principal at Cathedral Catholic High School, both in San Diego. Ms. Conroy is as versatile as she is experienced. A first-generation American — her mother is Nicaraguan and her father is Canadian — Ms. Conroy is bilingual and deeply connected to her Catholic faith. Ms. Conroy has a BA from California Polytechnic State University and a Masters in Educational Leadership. She has been married for 21 years to her husband Matthew who serves as a Battalion Chief for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

After a comprehensive national search process, Marlena was found to be an engaging, joyful, and authentic leader who will articulate and promote the Catholic Dominican identity of Flintridge Sacred Heart. She is mission-focused and embodies a positive, hopeful vision for the future of all-girls education. Marlena believes the current era offers limitless opportunities for young women and that there is a need for forward-thinking strategies to prepare them for a dynamic future.
I am humbled by the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of incredible Dominican Sisters to serve the Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy. As a Catholic Educator for 23 years, my life’s mission is to provide young women with a well-rounded education that empowers them to be a force for good in the world.
—Marlena Conroy

We extend our deep appreciation to the President Search Committee for the time, wisdom, and care they dedicated to our search process.
