Kathy Larson School Nurse

What is your role on the high school and in the boarding hall?

I love being the school nurse at FSHA! I truly believe that I am the most blessed person “on the hill”! I get to spend time with these amazing young women, both at the high school and in the boarding hall treating, educating about health, and sometimes just listening. Teaching the girls to fall in love with taking care of themselves including body, mind and spirit is so important to me.

What made you want to work at FSHA?

I felt a calling to come to FSHA and minister to these young women; encompassing health and well-being, nutrition, self-esteem, self-worth, and I view this position as the culmination of my many years of health and education experience.

What most excites you about your work here on the Hill? In the boarding hall?

What excites me the most about working on the Hill is simply the girls! They are such rays of light and their laughter fills my heart. Teaching the girls about being whole: body, mind and spirit.

What are the two most important things prospective students should know about life in the boarding hall?

Prospective students living in the boarding hall should know that it is really a family experience. The bonding that happens is beautiful to witness.

What is FSHA’s best kept secret?

FSHA’s best kept secret is Sister Carolyn and Sister Celeste! Two women after God’s heart!

What’s your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spot on campus is anywhere there is a group of girls and I can join in on the conversation.

What do you love about the all-girls school environment at FSHA?

I love the all-girls school environment at FSHA as it allows the girl to focus on their education and becoming women of faith, integrity and grace.

What are you surprisingly good at?

I am a surprisingly good hiker and walker. I have run/walked in six LA Marathons.

Where can we find you when you’re not working?

When I am not working I am with the most wonderful man on the planet, my husband John Larson, either hiking or walking our American bulldog, Penelope.

Who has made the biggest impact on your life?

My husband, John Larson has made the biggest impact on my life. He is a man of integrity and compassion and grace. He is faithful, kind, generous and patient. I am blessed beyond measure to have this man in my life. Together we choose joy every day. What a blessing!
