Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy faculty and staff embody justice and promote truth in the ways they:

  • Draw on and value students’ backgrounds, interests, and particular learning needs.
  • Select course materials and learning experiences that support the mission -- the quest for faith, integrity, and truth; foster a special concern for the poor, leading to compassionate service in love and justice.
  • Employ the principles of learning derived from research on learning.
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge and adaptability of best teaching practices for the particular learning community.
  • Backward map in order to create short-term and long term goals. Communicate course outcomes and assessment standards.
  • Modify instructional plans, activities, and materials for students’ learning.
  • Use technology effectively to foster deeper learning in ways that are germane to the subject matter.
  • Evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of student learning.
  • Plan and execute lessons that engage students’ attention; use time effectively; implement appropriate pace and transitions; connect new learning to what students already know and what they need to know.
  • Avoid creating conflicts in schedules, keeping the students and the FSHA mission at the forefront of decisions.
