November News from the Boarding Hall

Hello! We are well into our year here at the boarding hall and enjoying the beautiful weather on the Hill. We’ve had an eventful month with lots of outings to break up the studying and preparing for college applications. As we head into Thanksgiving break soon, take a look at the bottom for some important dates to help you make travel plans. 😊

We had our monthly Birthday Dinner on October 17 in the boarding hall. We had a Halloween theme and the girls and staff all dressed up for a fun evening. The boarding council planned a delicious fall themed menu and the dining hall was decorated beautifully for the event.

 

On October 19, 41 out of our 59 girls went to Universal Studios for Halloween Horror Night, and we had some day students join in as well. They took a coach bus and stayed at Universal Studios from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. and had an
awesome time! This is a yearly event which the girls love!



Our October 23 Intentional Program was a friendly competition between grade levels. The freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors all competed against each other in a series of Minute-To-Win-It games such as: defying gravity, moving on up, penny ladder, and separation anxiety. It was neck and neck but the seniors ended up winning with a steep lead in the end. Well done seniors and everyone had a grand old time. The winning team earned a Starbucks run and a drink of their choice.









On October 24 our delightful Director of Human Resources Juli Canavan visited the hall in the evening to share her love of Halloween and have a Halloween movie mania and ghost stories night with the girls. We all watched "Monsters Vs. Girls" and noshed on some candy corn and Twizzlers.



On October 25 our Assistant Principal Rosemary Johnston took three girls out for dinner and a movie as an alternative to a Father Daughter Dance that was being held on campus. All had such a great time we planned another movie night for next week!

On October 27 Ms. Emma and Ms. Jill took eight girls moonlight roller skating and everyone had a blast! We skated our hearts out for three hours and some of the girls skated the entire time without a break! And ALL of us woke up sore the next day from a night well spent rocking and rolling.
 
 

Halloween night we had a spooky dinner by the wonderful kitchen staff. We had bat wings, crispy skin entrails, and twigs, mud, and worms! Ms. Anoosh took a van full of girls trick-or-treating in town. For some of the girls it was their first time trick or treating and they had a blast!



Coming up in November we have a movie night to take the girls to see The Nutcracker, a baking day with our very own Tracey Romine, and a prayer service by Abby Davitt and Nurse Kathy, and before you know it Thanksgiving break will be here!
 
Important Dates to Remember
  • Thanksgiving Break: Saturday November 17 the boarding hall closes at noon.
  • It will reopen on Sunday the 25 at 10:00am.
  • Christmas Break: Friday December 21 the boarding hall closes at noon. Students MAY NOT leave before their final exam is finished on Thursday December 20. All exams will be finished by noon on December 20.
  • The boarding hall will reopen on January 6 at 10 a.m. Students must return before classes on January 7.
