You're Invited to the First Robotics Competition

The First Robotics Competition will take place March 22 and 23 (tomorrow and Saturday!) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the LA Convention Center. It should be a lot of fun, so we hope you check it out! First Robotics Competition has had more than 7,000 teams compete worldwide since the inaugural season in 1992. This year, there are 3,790 teams competing in multiple competitions. To learn more about the history of the competition check out this short HBO documentary:

FRC gives high school students an opportunity to design and build a robot, as well as program it. Everything is done by students supported by alumni of the organization and teachers. FRC also offers opportunities with large companies such as Boeing and NASA after graduation. This year's theme for the games is: "Destination: Deep Space." The teams have designed a robot specific to the setup of the game, the animation describing which can be found here:

This year it is being held at the LA Convention Center. (Note: the event itself is free but if you don't want to walk kind of far you will have to pay for parking. A suggestion is to bring safety goggles if you wish to enter the Pit, the place where all the teams work on their robots between games. In the Pit, team members will be able to answer any questions you may have. If you are not able to make it, there will be a live stream of the games and the score will be held live on https://www.thebluealliance.com/event/2019cala .
