About Round Square

Top: Roundsquare Leadership Board for the 2022-23 school year

Based in Windsor, England, the Round Square is a consortium of 220 like-minded schools in 50 countries on every continent. Founded by educational theorist Kurt Hahn, the founder of Gordunston School in Scotland and the Outward Bound movement, his approach to experiential learning led to the Round Square founding. He is credited for the quote, “There is more to you than you know.”

The Round Square organization is most noted for its approach to embedding character education, leadership development, service, experiential learning, democracy and internationalism in the school’s existing framework. These form the six IDEALS of the program. We, as a school, are already doing this in our teaching and learning; our values and mission statement embody the Round Square ethos and philosophy.

ROUND SQUARE KING CONSTANTINE AWARDS

This 2024 King Constantine award is given to the original founding member of the FSHA Round Square committee. Jenna Todorov has given 500% to every Round Square initiative. She is the first to respond to a call for volunteers for open houses, back to school nights, and new student events.

She traveled as a Round Square leader to our first international conference to Oxford , England and demonstrated true internationalism and global understanding. She was instrumental in the planning and implementation of our first global zoom conference, “Fear Less”. The conference was attended by 100 or more students from around the world, and it was an amazing success, serving as the gold standard for Zoom Postcards.

She has taken the lead with our other amazing Round Square leaders in planning and running fundraisers, Round Square week, our charity coffee house,  and more. The Round Square committee raised $2000 for our local Habitat for Humanity chapter over a one year period.

Jenna is a dedicated community servant and has completed hundreds of volunteer hours in the local community.

For her extraordinary service to the Round Square and the community, this year’s King Constantine medal goes to senior Jenna Todorov ‘24.

The 2023 King Constantine medal is presented to an exceptional individual or group of individuals from every Round Square Member School who has done unusual and outstanding work within their local or global community and truly embraces the spirit of the Round Square IDEALS. King Constantine of Greece was the major benefactor of the Round Square.

This year’s award recipient goes to a student whose compassion and service led to extraordinary work with the Tondo people of the Philippines. Her work has been a game changer for a community living in poverty and hardship. Through her efforts, hope has been ignited and lives have been improved. Madison produced and directed an extraordinary documentary about the village and its people. Her efforts will continue with ongoing service work planned within the Tondo community. The 2023 Round Square King Constantine medal goes to Madison W. ’24.
