Donate Now to EGRC to Help Girls in Rural China!
My name is Wendy Wang. I’m a new sophomore boarding student at Flintridge Sacred Heart. I’m working with EGRC to organize a fundraiser to support girls in rural China. EGRC stands for Educating Girls of Rural China. It is a Vancouver-based registered charity dedicated to empowering financially-challenged girls and young women from rural areas of Gansu, Qinghai and Guizhou provinces by sponsoring their secondary and post-secondary education. All the works are done based on the belief that “educated women have educated children”. EGRC has provided the gift of education to 1280 girls from the poorest regions of rural China. The girls have achieved a graduation rate of over 99%. Please see their website, https://egrc.ca.
Here are some photographs taken by EGRC when visiting girls in Gansu last month.

”My dream is to work in a big city and build the road to my grandma’s home,” a girl said to EGRC.

This is a relief tent. This is also the home of two girls for seven years.
People put up blessings on the wall. They hope their daughters/granddaughters can get into college.
As a girl growing up in China, I appreciate my parents offering me an opportunity to study abroad, and I’m even more lucky to study in Flintridge Sacred Heart. However, I feel sad about those girls in rural China, where non-compulsory education is not affordable for most families. A lot of girls are forced to work in factories to earn money, but they’re still very poor from generations to generations. Receiving education is the only way for them to escape the cycle of poverty.
Learning about EGRC encouraged me to do something for my peers, and to speak out against education inequality. With a goal of $1,000 USD, or 7000 rmb, we’re hoping to raise enough to provide a girl with her one-year school fee. Please don’t hesitate to share your love! Your kind donation means the whole world to them. And your money makes a huge difference today, tomorrow, and all the time!
The donation will last until December 18th. You can donate through the following ways:
Thank you!
