Soccer Kicks Off with a Young Team

“We have a good team and great players but the majority of the team is made up of sophomores and freshmen, so it is going to be a challenge to make them play as one,” explained Mrs. Desmond. The coaches goal is to make them into a team and to be fully ready to go into Mission League.

All girls play for various clubs and are fit and skilled. They currently attend morning practices where they must run the wall at 6 a.m., CATZ training, which they hope will prepare them to face Harvard Westlake, the hardest team to beat.

“Our biggest challenge is that we have a completely new team. We are still figuring out how to play together so we can get back to the level we were at last year. I’m looking forward to getting know each other so we’re one big family again,” said captain Danielle Molina ‘10.

“Last years’ team was built around a foundation of five seniors who shared a combined total of 17 years of varsity experience,” said Coach Pace.

“This years’ senior and junior class combines for seven years varsity experience and five of those are credited to senior co-captains Dominique Oro and Danielle Molina,” he said.

Senior Dominique Oro and junior Natalie Zeeni will also captain the team.

The roster also includes Katelyn Almeida ’12, Alyssa Conti ’11, Erika Davidson ’11, Lindsey Espe ’12, Jill Jacobs ’12, Katie Johnson ’12, Breeana Koemans ’12, Britni and Krista Meaglia ’13, Haley Mojica ’10, Alexa Montgomery ’12, Miranda Saldivar ’13, Sarah Teegarden ’13, Lauren Torres ’12, Tera Trujillo ’12 and Savannah Viola ’13.
