Cross-Country's Successful Season Includes Charity Run

FSHA's cross-country team ended its season with a seventh-place finish at the state championship meet and a spot on the All-Area Team for Stephanie Vargas '12.
"The girls ran their best and peaked at the right point, and the whole team improved for finals," Coach Kirk Nishiyama told the Veritas Shield. "Because of injuries it got tough, but we bounced back at the right time."

The seventh-place placement took place at the state meet at Woodward Park in Fresno on November 26, where Stephanie led the Tologs with a time of 18:32. She was named to the All-Area Team by the Pasadena Star-News on January 6.

Those accomplishments came after the team took time out from competing to participate in the Run for Homeboy 5K & Kiddie Run on October 27. While the event raised funds and awareness for Homeboy Industries, FSHA runners also performed quite well in the race.

Stephanie is one of many seniors who were on the cross-country team this year; the group also includes Amanda Aguilar, Paulina Antaplyan, Jamie Lemus, Alex Eaton, Aleenna Escobedo, Emily Katz, Ashley Lund, Annie Maguire, Marie Clare Molina, Maddy Romero, Mary Katherine Senstad and Nora Welsh.
