Christian Action Movement Collecting Food for Glendale Homeless

As we approach the holidays and give thanks for our many blessings, let us remember that not all of our neighbors are as lucky as we. To do our part to help our community, Christian Action Movement is sponsoring a food drive to support Ascencia, an organization dedicated to ending homelessness in the greater Glendale area. You can help by donating any of the products on the list (click the link below for details), reusable grocery bags or supermarket gift cards.

Although we are housing more of the homeless population in Los Angeles than ever, the 2015 homeless census in LA determined these sobering facts:
  • Almost 45,000 Angelenos are still homeless.
  • The total number of homeless in Los Angeles is up 12% from 2013.
  • 70% of those homeless in Los Angeles have no shelter, living in cars and on streets.
  • 62% of our entire country’s counted homeless population lives here in Los Angeles.
To do our part to help our community, we at FSHA are collecting donations to stock Ascencia’s winter shelter facility, which is set to open in December.

How can you help?

  • Purchase any or all of the products mentioned below according to grade level.
  • Consider packing a donation in a reusable grocery bag to further help a needy family.
  • Donate a supermarket gift card if you prefer the flexibility and convenience.
A donation valued at $15 is suggested, but any size contribution is greatly appreciated.

Donations can be dropped off until Friday, Nov. 20 in classrooms 30, 32, and 35.
