The Speech & Debate Team's Great Weekend

FSHA's speech and debate team attended two tournaments this weekend with spectacular results.

At the I Have a Dream Invitational at Monroe High School in Sherman Oaks, we had four speech student compete on Saturday. Angie Zhao '18 was a finalist and won fourth place with her expository speech on manga. The I Have a Dream Invitational is a popular local tournament with schools from the two largest leagues in the Los Angeles county area.

Seven speech students attended the Stanford Invitational at Stanford University and three of them won awards, including Clara Fermanian ’18 (quarterfinalist in JV Impromptu), Serena Sampson ’17 and Jennifer Miranti ’17 (finalists  in Varsity Impromptu with Serena taking fifth place and Jennifer taking third place). Clara, Serena and Jennifer faced a large, competitive field of talented students from across the country.
