VERITAS WEEK SCHEDULE:



Monday: Community
  • Dominican Assembly 
  • All School (faculty, staff, students) PICNIC on field (following the assembly)
    • Bring picnic blankets/chairs
    • Bring lawn/picnic games -- You can drop games off in Portable 1 in the morning.  (Please have your name on your game somewhere).  The student mission committee will set up the games during Block A.
    • *Black & White free dress day
Live out the pillar of community by eating lunch and playing games with different people during the picnic.  Talk with people you don’t normally talk to.

Tuesday: Study
  • Focus on educating ourselves on homelessness in America
  • Activity:
    • Showing of documentary “The Line” during the week.  There will be a discussion on the documentary in Portable 1 at lunch.
    • There will be treats! 
Live out the pillar of study by educating yourself on a current social justice issue.  As a school community we will be focusing on homelessness in America.
 
Wednesday: Liturgy- We are all Dominicans!
  • Dominican Liturgy
    • Theme: We are all Dominicans!
    • Lectionary readings for the mass of St. Dominic
    • Participate in mass!
    • Institute praying the Our Father in the language of your heart
Participate in your own way at mass by singing, doing the hand motions to songs, or by taking up the challenge to learn the Our Father in another language.


Thursday: Prayer
  • Study Hall: Pray the Rosary!
    • We will pray 5 decades of this prayer given to St. Dominic for whoever wants to join
    • This will be entirely student led
    • Location: Portable 1
Live out the pillar of prayer by reflecting on a bible verse in the morning. There are many ways to pray so you can meditate, dance, give a prayer of thanksgiving or blessing to express your faith.
 
Friday: Service
  • A call to serve others on this day
  • Drive all week to donate supplies to the St. Francis Center.
  • The following items have been requested for the hygiene kits: shampoo, soap, razors, combs, deodorant, socks, underwear, etc. There is a box up in the high school building for people to drop off supplies.
  • Volunteer Friday afternoon to put bags together for the homeless
  • Friday is the Feast Day of Our Lady of the Rosary so we plan on praying one mystery during morning announcements 
Live out the pillar of service by doing a corporal work of mercy for the poor.
