A special community announcement

Dear FSHA Community:

The life of every great school is punctuated by various events that become the cornerstones around which the school builds momentum for the future. I’m pleased to announce that Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy has received an extraordinary gift of $3 million from the Phyllis and Angelo Mozilo Family Foundation to help fund the expansion of the Center for the Arts. This is the largest gift the school has received since it was founded in 1931.

The foundation also made the lead gift of $2 million to the Vision for Veritascampaign that enabled the school to remodel the Center for the Arts, which was completed in 2016. To celebrate the foundation’s gift, we are honored to name the Mozilo Family Center for the Arts, in addition to the Mozilo Family Theater.

Phyllis, who passed away in 2017, and Angelo have distinguished themselves in their support of FSHA. In addition to their gifts to support the arts, they established the Phyllis and Angelo Foundation Scholarship Fund to provide financial assistance to young women who demonstrate significant and pronounced need and funded the Phyllis and Mozilo Family Scientific Research Lab as part of the Student Activities Center campaign. They have, at every turn, answered the call to support our mission. The Mozilos' philanthropy has also benefited numerous colleges and universities, hospitals, social service agencies and art organizations.

The Mozilos' daughters, Elizabeth Mozilo ’80 and Christy Mozilo Larsen ’84 are graduates of FSHA. Elizabeth’s three daughters, Meghan ’10, Gabrielle ’13 and Olivia ’16 are also graduates of FSHA. While a parent at FSHA, Elizabeth chaired Gala multiple times. Christy served on the Board of Directors from 2003 to 2011, including chairing the Board for three years. Christy currently serves as managing director of the family foundation.

The foundation’s gift will be used to launch the Vision for Veritas II campaign to complete the expansion of the Mozilo Family Center for the Arts, to construct an innovation center and to upgrade our electrical infrastructure for future campus enhancements. The Center for the Arts expansion includes new dance, music, theatre, stagecraft and 2D and 3D art classrooms.

I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to share this exciting and historic announcement with you, and I know you join me in expressing our community’s heartfelt appreciation to the Phyllis and Angelo Mozilo Family Foundation. This is a milestone in the history of FSHA. There is great work that lies ahead, and each one of you can play a vital role in our continued success. I am eager to join hands with all of you to build on this momentum and make our dreams come true.

Sincerely,

Sister Carolyn McCormack, OP
President
