Community

I am not afraid to be myself and speak my mind because the students genuinely want to listen to each other and understand one another's point of view.
Everything we do, including the following initiatives, events and celebrations, is meant to contribute to the development of a strong residential life community.

    • Community Dinner Nights: Every week, on Tuesday nights, we have dinner together and the girls sit in their dorm families. This night might be a cultural dinner, where we celebrate and learn together, a birthday dinner or just a time for the entire community to gather together for dinner. On certain nights, the Residential Life Leadership Council provide questions to encourage intentional discussion.

    • Small Group Outings: With smaller group sizes, these outings are intended to help students get to know one another on a deeper level and expose the girls to new experiences.
    • Large Group Outings: We’ve continued the large monthly outings in the residence hall that allow the girls to leave campus, explore the Greater LA area and have fun, such as attending Universal Halloween Horror Nights, seeing a show at the Pantages or visiting the Channel Islands.
    • Birthday Dinners: Every other month, we celebrate birthdays in the hall with a special dinner planned by the student leadership team. Each birthday dinner has a specific theme, and some kind of surprise or activity in addition to the dinner celebration.
    • Weekly Community Events: We have weekly movie nights on the weekends and informal programs that help foster community in the halls, including: pool time, baking and cooking opportunities, crafting afternoons, and time outside playing lawn games. There are other events throughout the week that foster community, such as Wacky Wednesday.
